We are happy to announce that the Storyville album has been released. The album is called "Farewell to Storyville" and contains 10 tracks some of which are new acoustic versions of old Oppos tracks. We are happy to announce that July 2005 will see another new Opposition release. The album is called Lost Songs and contains 15 tracks that were recorded in 1978. It is a full album that was officially recorded but has never been properly released before in any form. Only the track This Year was released on a 7" single but the other tracks have never been heard before in any form. The album can now be ordered through Red Sun Records, release date to be confirmed. There's a new feature added to the OPPOSITION website. It's a (free) online chatroom where OPPOSITION fans can chat to each other directly. The chatroom is buit in Flash so you need to have the Flash plugin installed in your webbrowser. (most browsers have it already installed) You can also choose 4 different skins to personalise your own chatroom. (by selecting the options button) You need to register before you are able to enter the chatroom. This is merely a safety measure to avoid/remove spammers and unwanted guests in the chatroom. BREAKING THE SILENCE is available again through RED SUN RECORDS . The album has been remastered and has never been available on CD before. Without any doubt this is one of the finest debuts of the golden age of post-punk, an inelastic tension ball of paranoia, romantic strife and alienation. The title track, "Breaking The Silence," attacks the sound from a sparse perspective, relying on a steady bass line and punctual drums. With the gentle added touches of ethereal guitars and keyboard melodies, you are thoroughly swept away. Mark Long sings with conviction from the heart, only breaking away for some minimal embellishments as the track goes on. At times, the guitar level turns up and Long really sings from the gut, giving you chills. Here for once is a band capable of stretching the heart, making meaningful, worthwhile statements on common human dilemmas, with their big beat, gut-firing guitars, strong heady bass-lines and tightly controlled vocals.

BREAKING THE SILENCE is scheduled for release on 01-10-2001 and will be available through RED SUN RECORDS . The new album has been completely recorded and is in the final stage of mastering.

WAITING... Yeah, well we all are I guess... The Opposition is working hard on the final mixes for the new album and Breaking The Silence is in the stage of being re-born and re-released. It's in the merciful hands of the manufacturer at this very moment so... not long before it's available again! Remastered and with 2 bonus tracks a special treat on it's own...

Well, all good things take a while when they're in progress, but... Breaking The Silence is on it's final way to be re-released again! The artwork is finished, the masters have been made, everybody is satisfied with the final results and the whole thing should be finished by the end of this month.

The Opposition is working hard on their NEW album which is scheduled for release in August/September after a short well earned break/holiday. Keep an eye on the site because the new stuff is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!

There have been some problems with the mastertapes of Breaking The Silence which led to a delay in releasing the album. Everything should be cleared within a few weeks. The album will come out soon followed up by the new CD.

The band is working very hard to get the new album out asap, the artwork of the Breaking The Silence CD release is almost finished and the album will probably see the light within a few weeks. Followed closely by the new album Mr & Mrs Jones.

Breaking The Silence will have two extra bonustracks, "She Said" and "Open The Door", which have never been released before. ( only as MP3 on the discography page...)

2 new free MP3 tracks ("If she'd only heard of Ray Charles" & "Passing By") have been added to the discography page. The two tracks are from the "Promises" period (1984) and both are full versions. "If she'd only heard of Ray Charles" is a very nice semi-acoustic song. This is very different from the other OPPOSITION material from that period! Curious? [ click HERE ]

You can have a look at some pictures that have been taken during the very succesful SAEZ tour 2000 by clicking [ HERE ]. These are featuring OPPOSITION members Marcus Bell on bassguitar and Jean-Daniel Glorioso on drums.

The album of SAEZ - "Jours Étranges", on which Marcus plays bass and Jean-Daniel Glorioso plays drums, has reached GOLD status (over 500.000 copies sold) in France. The album has been recorded in the Opposition studio in Paris and is produced by Marcus & Jean-Daniel.

The Opposition is currently mixing the new album which will be released early next year together with the re-release of "Breaking The Silence".

The site has been divided into a HTML and a FLASH section. Marcus is working on the background music for the FLASH site and there will be some direct download links for the downloading of the MP3's.

Each album on the discography page has 3 MP3 samples (1 minute) for downloading. A great way to get acquainted with the Oppos albums and a good reason to buy them if you like 'em...
All albums will be re-released again at the end of the year 2000.

Well, the first (and best?) news is that this website has finally seen the light of day. The Opposition is a band that I've been following from the early eighties until now. Finding information about them has always very difficult here in Holland. But I always managed to buy their records when I was in France, although I sometimes had the feeling that there was an angel sitting on my shoulder when I found a new Opposition album. Many of my close friends have tried for many many years to get the same albums, but they never succeeded. . . I have been looking on the internet for quite sometime now trying to find information or new albums, the result was nil. I finally managed to contact Kenny Jones the Oppos' former producer & engineer and told him I was planning to make a website for the Opposition. The result was that Kenny contacted Mark Long and Mark contacted me again... the result is what you are looking at now. The website is 100% Opposition approved !!! Hope you like it!
